Neighbor Gifts

GiGi came home from school yesterday with red, rosy cheeks. She looked like she had been playing outside in the cool wind, and it appeared her cheeks were chapped or irritated. I didn't think much about it, but when she woke up this morning, the rash was bright red. I took her to her morning church school since she was feeling fine; however, we were sent home and told not to come back without a doctor's note. It turns out she has fifth disease which is a viral infection. Kids usually have flu like symptoms, and then present with a red rash on their cheeks after the infection has run it's course. She hasn't been sick at all, and the doctor stated that sometimes kids that have stronger immune systems don't have any signs of the infection except for the rash. She is not contagious and can return to school tomorrow.

Since we had a free day at home today, we decided to work on our neighbor gifts. All of our neighbors in our culdesac exchange gifts. Most neighbors exchange baked goods, but my schedule doesn't allow me to be home baking Christmas goodies, and even if I had the time, I probably wouldn't bake anything edible. :) So since I don't bake, it is hard to come up with ideas for small, inexpensive gifts year after year, so I thought I would share this one. I think it would be cute for teacher gifts as well.

First, I ordered handmade soap from Etsy. Aren't these little birdies cute!
Next, I purchased small apothecary jars which were 50% off at Hobby Lobby. I love apothecary jars. I have several in my house that I fill with different seasonal items throughout the year. I think small apothecary jars with handmade soap will be cute in a guest bath.
GiGi and I made these notecards which were tied to the lids of the jars.
It was nice to spend one on one time with my girl today. She is such a big help, and really enjoys doing crafty projects. I hope she grows up to be more creative than her Mommy!
