Part Two

Before I get wrapped up in the day and am not able to post again, or before I go another week forgetting to post the second part of this post, I thought I would get it out of the way this morning.

The second part of this shoot was so much fun and perfect for her acting portfolio. Each of these photos show so much personality and style and I love that!

I couldn't have been happier that the train came by as we were shooting. How fun is this!
And lastly, we changed it up a bit for a vintage shot over the highway.

While my passion for photography is really shooting young children and babies, I do find it a nice change of pace photographing these older girls that have graced my shots lately. I didn't get anything thrown at me and wasn't sore the day after from chasing around a toddler.

FALL is in the air...

Photographers love fall weather portraits, and now I am finding out why. I have done a few recent sessions where the lighting is absolutely gorgeous! Of course the photos are even more gorgeous when you are blessed with photographing the cutest kids in Oklahoma City. :)
Glistening light and sweet, innocent baby expressions make me so happy. The second reason to fall in love with fall shoots is the wardrobe. Fun layering of clothing with jackets and hats in bright bold colors makes my job a breeze.

I have quite the hat collection in my photography stash. I am in love with all the crochet hats that are popular this season especially with a beautiful, blue eyed girl stuffed in them.

...And you can NEVER go wrong with a pom pom hat.

Wendy - I will have your pictures ready soon. I
hope you enjoyed your little sneak peek today.

Is she really four?

Or is she just trapped in a 4 year olds body? I believe it may be the latter of the two? If you are a frequent reader on this blog then you have read all my posts about my little girl acting NOT so little. She obsesses over playing with much older children, wants to wear make-up all the time, asks frequently if she can shave her legs and gets mad if she sees someone older doing something that she is not big enough to do. There are absolutely no age or size restrictions in this brain.
And this week, we can add something else to the list...
Remember I said I would fill you in on this??? Well, this little fairy came to visit us this weekend.

Because this 4 YEAR OLD is apparently dentally advanced! Seriously, when did 4 year olds start losing their teeth??? She also has all 4 of her 6 year old molars, and two more loose teeth. GOD HELP ME if she goes through puberty at the age of EIGHT or NINE!
Can I get my baby back????

OH WHAT FUN

We had a jam packed, busy, fun filled weekend.

Friday evening after I got home from work, I was greeted by one of my favorite little girls. We had fun singing and dancing around the house and I always have fun hanging out with her Mommy.

Then late Friday night, we had another visitor. (I will post more about this later.)

On Saturday, our house was a sea of crimson and cream. We had a great time with all of hubby's family watching football and eating lots and lots of food. We congregated around the island in the kitchen way too much! I think I gained 5lbs in one day. :(

We also celebrated my M-I-L's birthday. She is always happy to be with all 7 of her grandchildren.
The Diva spent the night with GiGi, and they did a lot of dressing up. This is their favorite thing to do when we have family gatherings.

On Sunday morning, I treated them to a royal princess makeover. They looked so cute!

As soon as the Diva left our house, GiGi and I were off to a school friend's birthday party. The face painting was a hit.

GiGi is making lots of good friends at her new school.

We had to leave that birthday party early to attend cousin Rhea's party where there was more dress up time.
And after a fun, but exhausting weekend this is what happens. I really wanted to stop the car and climb back there to nap with her :) I am one tired Mommy tonight.

14 and fabulous

I received a phone call from this young girl asking me to take pictures of her so that she can create a portfolio.  I was happy to oblige.  As long as I have known this sweet girl, she has always been in drama and absolutely loves theater. She has been a very successful actress in our local theater and would like to pursue it a little further.   Since she needed several looks and styles for her portfolio, we split the session into two locations and two styles.  We captured so many great pictures at both locations, so I am going to break it down into two posts.  We started out at a local park for her natural, scenic images...

I love this next picture.  So natural, and breathtakingly beautiful.
These next ones turned out to be my faves from our scenic session.  It is easy to please me, just put on an awesome hat.  She has quite the collection which you will soon see, but I would have liked to have stolen this crochet beret from her.  I love it!

Stay tuned to see this fab 14 year old rock our urban session.

Sometimes we need a reminder

In the rush of this hectic life that we create for ourselves, i.e., back to school, sports and music lessons, work, social activities, sometimes I forget to stop and remember what a beautiful world we live in. I had a very long and exhausting day one day, and all it took was a beautiful sunset on my drive home to put things back into persective. It is easy to let time pass us by as we kick into survival mode to get through the chaos that a single day brings, but a nice reminder to make every second meaningful is always welcome even if it occurs on my drive home during rush hour. I always think of it as little signs from God telling me to slow down and enjoy what he has blessed me with...even if those signs appear in the flat fields of Oklahoma. :)

One beautiful baby...

Remember this adorable couple that I posted a few weeks ago??? On August 22nd, they welcomed a gorgeous baby girl into the world. And 7 days later...
...I got to meet this beautiful bundle for her first photo session. Baby Kulsum slumbered into a deep sleep while I snapped away.

She was around 7lbs when I took these photos, and I didn't know if she would fit into GiGi's antique doll pram (it is so tiny), but she curled right up, so that I could capture this.
Congrats Alisa and Miguel!

REDUCE, REUSE, RECYCLE

When I awoke this morning, I decided to take on a fun little project. A while ago, I caught my mom throwing out some old furniture that she hadn't used in years. I knew we needed side tables, so when I saw this, I thought what the heck, I might as well give it a try. So after a lot of sanding, painting, distressing, and new hardware, this is the result.

AFTER

It only took a few hours to transform this into something that I actually like, and I love that I was able to recycle something that would have gone to the dump.
